CLTC Board of Standards Releases Code of Standards

2nd July, 2002

The CLTC Board of Standards, Inc. (Board) announces, effective July 1, 2006, the CLTC Code of Professional Responsibility (Code) and the CLTC Pledge (Pledge). All CLTC designees must abide by the terms of the Code to continue using the designation. Both are currently being mailed to all students, CLTC designees, and Lifetime members.

Board Chairman, Bill Comfort, remarked, "The CLTC Board of Standards has put many months of work into this Code as part of its effort to enhance the professional credibility of the CLTC designation in the financial services industry, among other professional advisors, and most importantly, with prospects and clients."

Beginning July 1, 2006 all prospective students will be required to read the Code and sign the Pledge, indicating that they agree to the terms of the Code.

"The CLTC designation is the most prestigious and most widely-accepted designation focused on long-term care planning and long-term care insurance in the country and fills an important gap left untended by other so-called comprehensive training and designation programs," commented Mr. Comfort. "It is incumbent upon the Board and the Code to ensure that all designees follow the highest ethical standards as they seek to advise clients and sell financial products to help families finance the cost of long-term care."

The Code will be published for consumers to view and the Board will be making efforts to educate the public that all CLTC designees are to be held to the Code's Principals and Rules.
