The Company specializes in workout/turnaround situations as well as providing operational management improvement services for increased profitability in stable businesses. The Company concentrates its focus on small to medium size privately held businesses. Clients served have ranged in size from $1.5 million to $75 million in annual sales. The Company also provides Continuing Professional Education courses in Operational Management (CPE Credits). The basis of the Company's approach is to develop and implement "situation specific" operational control systems and procedures designed to immediately improve bottom line profitability. SMI will undertake a profit improvement project only in those cases where the potential profit and cash flow improvement in the first year equals or exceeds the projected cost. This is to assure that there is no net cost to the client. Average attained results over a broad spectrum of client companies in a variety of businesses have typically ranged from a 4 to in excess of a 10-percentage point increase in bottom line pre-tax profit. In addition to these specific quantifiable results, the Company also establishes and attains two additional goals for its business owner clients: 1) An increased comfort level vis a vis their control of their business; and, 2)The ability to reduce their personal time commitment to the daily operations of their company. When retained for a turnaround or workout client, SMI's first priority and course of action will be to stabilize the company's financial and operational situation.
