Novogradac & Company LLP's Diane M. Rubin Named to Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting

Diane M. Rubin, a partner in the San Francisco office of Novogradac & Company LLP, has been named by Accounting Today as one of the 2006 Top 100 Most Influential People in Accounting.

Recognized for forging stronger bonds among state boards, fostering increased consumer awareness of what state boards do and how they protect the public, working to ease the barriers to interstate practice and to improve the CPA exam, Rubin was included in Accounting Today's "Visionaries: The Leaders Who Shape the Profession-and Their Plans for Tomorrow." Rubin serves as chair of the Board of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) for 2005-2006, a position to which she was elected at the organization's 98th Annual Meeting in Tucson, Ariz. last November.

Rubin is a member of the Auditing Standards Board and served on the California State Board of Accountancy from 1993 to 2000, including a term as president from 1997 to 1998. She has also served as chair of the board's Committee on Professional Conduct, and as a member of the Sunset Review Committee, UAA Committee and the Enforcement Program Oversight Committee. Rubin is a past NASBA director-at-large and Pacific Regional Director and served as the chair of the CPA Examination Committee and the Strategic Initiatives Committee, as well as serving on the Relations with Member Boards, New Horizons and non-CPA Ownership committees and the NASBA Services Group managing board. Additionally, she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Women's Society of CPAs and the California Society of CPAs. She is licensed as a CPA in California, Texas, Georgia and Washington.

Rubin has served as a commissioner of the Marin County (Calif.) Parks, Open Space, and Cultural Commission and on the Board of Trustees of the Mount Tamalpais School and a member of the International Diplomacy Council. She is a director of the San Francisco Opera Guild and has served as a member of the board of directors of the Junior League of San Francisco, Florence Crittenton Services and the San Francisco Road Runners Club.

Rubin resides in San Rafael and Rancho Mirage, California.

Accounting Today is published for professionals in the tax and accounting community, helping to keep accounting professionals abreast of developments and trends in the accounting profession. In presenting its Top 100 list to its readers, the publication reported that this year it had received the highest number ever of recommendation for inclusion in its Top 100. Noting that the accounting profession in the last several years has been anything but routine and predictable, the publication said the 2006 list includes a number of new inductees, some of whom are "cutting edge."
